Article Withdrawal Policy
The International Journal of Computer Science Research (IJCSR) recognizes the importance of ethical research practices and transparency in scholarly communication. This Article Withdrawal Policy outlines the process for authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript submitted to IJCSR.
- When to Withdraw an article
Authors are encouraged to withdraw their manuscript for any of the following reasons:
- Substantial errors discovered: If the authors identify significant errors in the manuscript that could affect the validity of the research findings.
- Duplicate publication: If the manuscript has been submitted or published elsewhere without proper disclosure.
- Ethical concerns: If the authors discover ethical issues related to the research, such as plagiarism or falsification of data.
- Authorship changes: If there are significant changes to the authorship list that require author agreement or institutional approval.
- Decision to submit elsewhere: If the authors decide to submit the manuscript to a different journal after initial submission to IJCSR.
- Withdrawal Stages
- Before Peer Review: Authors can withdraw their manuscript at any time before the peer-review process begins. No justification is required for withdrawal at this stage.
- During Peer Review: If the manuscript is already under peer review, authors are requested to inform the editor as soon as possible. Withdrawal requests during this stage may require a brief explanation from the corresponding author.
- After Acceptance: Withdrawal after the manuscript has been accepted for publication is generally not encouraged, as it can cause inconvenience to reviewers and editors. However, IJCSR will consider exceptional circumstances. Authors must provide a detailed explanation for the withdrawal request at this stage.
- Withdrawal Process
Authors should submit a formal withdrawal request to the IJCSR editorial office via email. The request should include the following information:
- Title of the manuscript
- Corresponding author name and email address
- Stage of the manuscript (under submission, under review, or accepted)
- Brief explanation for the withdrawal request (optional before peer review)
- Consequences of Withdrawal
- Manuscripts withdrawn before peer review will not be included in any IJCSR publication records.
- Manuscripts withdrawn during peer review may be anonymized and used for reviewer training purposes.
- Manuscripts withdrawn after acceptance will not be published by IJCSR. However, the editor may reserve the right to inform reviewers about the withdrawal, especially if they have already invested significant time in the review process.
- Retraction vs. Withdrawal
It is important to distinguish between article withdrawal and article retraction. Withdrawal refers to a manuscript being removed from consideration before publication. Retraction refers to the removal of a published article due to errors, misconduct, or other serious issues. In the case of retraction, a formal retraction notice will be published explaining the reason for withdrawal.
